EBA&D is the prime contractor for the XM-19 Abrams Reactive Armor Tile system, ARAT-1. This state-of-the-art technology combines EBA&D’s fully qualified insensitive energetic materials with passive elements for greatly increased armor protection.

Fully field by the US Army since 2006, the highly reliable XM-19 technology has a proven track record of safety, reliability, and performance. In conflicts around the world, XM-19 has protected our troops to provide a decisive battlefield advantage. The XM-19 meets the IM requirements of MIL-STD-2105 and has been extensively tested against small arms for insensitivity to Bullet and Fragment impact and is fully self-extinguishing. It also meets the environmental requirements of Mil-STD-801 and has a 20 year shelf life, with no maintenance required.
