Ideal for any explosive initiation event that requires low energy, fast, repeatable function time and tightly controlled firing characteristics, the EBAD Semiconductor Bridge (SCB) Initiators are often used for the initiation of high-explosive devices (shaped charges, transfer lines) or for generation of pressure or gas. These fast-acting, low-energy, electro-explosive devices are extremely efficient at converting electrical energy to explosive energy in order to produce a squib or detonation output.
EBAD designs all SCB initiators to meet specific requirements such as immunity to electrostatic discharge (ESD), voltage blocking for Radio Frequency (RF) protection and very low initiation energy applications. SCB initiators have superior no-fire performance when compared with a typical hot bridgewire device due to the chip’s planar design and excellent heatsinking capability. They can be easily integrated into various devices such as pin pullers, piston actuators, wing deployment devices, actuators, rocket motors, cutters, explosive bolts and igniters.
