Shock Tube Assembly

Description

A Shock Tube Assembly (STA) is a flexible explosive transfer assembly used to propagate an energetic signal and to explosively initiate devices. STA's were developed to directly replace or work in conjunction with Flexible Confined Detonating Cord Assemblies (FCDCA) and Shielded Mild Detonating Cords (SMDC). However, the STA product line provides distinct improvements in the areas of flexibility and weight over the FCDCA or SMDC. The STA can be supplied with a High Energy (HE) endtip that is physically and functionally equivalent to an FCDCA or SMDC. A Low Energy (LE) endtip is also available, which can be initiated by high-pressure, high-temperature gas instead of a high-energy detonating output, allowing the engineer greater flexibility in optimizing system designs. In addition, EBA&D has manufactured STA endtips that incorporate an integral pyrotechnic delay to achieve proper event sequencing. Other special endtips may be designed depending on specific customer requirements.
