Description

Interrupters are explosively actuated mechanisms used for safing or arming an explosive train. The principal operating feature is a translating piston known as a barrier. The barrier is an inert solid shield that prevents communication between donor and receptor explosive charges.

EBA&D produces interrupters qualified to Eastern and Western Range 127-1, which defines performance reliability and margin requirements for launch vehicle flight termination system ordnance. In addition, EBA&D has used similar designs to meet the standards of MIL-STD-1316, which details the requirements for interrupted explosive trains in fuses.
