Description

Explosive events often require the conversion of an electric signal to an energetic output. This conversion is frequently performed using a Hot Bridgewire (HBW) squib or detonator. HBW initiators cover a wide range of design configurations, from low cost, non hermetic devices to hermetically sealed devices housed in robust steel bodies. The common component in these devices is the bridgewire, a thin metallic wire used to convert electrical current into heat, causing subsequent initiation of a pyrotechnic or explosive charge.
